PWHL REVEALS VANCOUVER & SEATTLE INAUGURAL JERSEYS

The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has officially unveiled the inaugural jerseys for its two newest teams making their debut next month: PWHL Vancouver and PWHL Seattle.

Both teams will make their debut on opening night on Friday, November 21 at 7 PM PT. Until the 2026-27 season, the teams will compete under the names PWHL Vancouver and PWHL Seattle- mirroring the league’s original six teams in their first season, before unveiling official names and logos next year.

The design inspiration is deeply rooted in each city’s natural landscape.

PWHL Seattle reported the highest single-day jersey sales in PWHL history following the launch, with Vancouver following closely behind in sales.

dove x afc toronto: changing the compliment

Personal care and beauty brand, Dove has partnered with AFC Toronto of the NSL for its global #ChangeTheCompliment campaign- which launched on International Day of the Girl (October 11).

The goal of the campaign is to shift how we speak to and about girls, focusing less on appearance and more on their abilities, values, and character.

During AFC Toronto’s Fan Appreciation playoff match, players wore special-edition Dove jerseys with powerful words with each of their last names.

At an AFC Toronto community event this week, players Colby Barnett, Nyota Katembo, Sarah Rollins, and Mikayla Small shared the inspiration behind the words they chose to feature on the back of their jerseys. Beginning with Colby Barnett, she chose “Resilient“- a word that has always been significant to her both in soccer and life, especially when faced with challenges. Building on the theme of courage, Nyota Katembo selected “Bold” to reflect her experience in joining the NSL as a new league, which she describes as a gamble about the future- her boldness was shared by the players who trusted what the league could become. Similarly, Sarah Rollins picked “Strong” explaining that as a centreback, she often thinks about the importance of strength and leadership. Finally, Nikayla “Nikki” Small chose “Talented,” emphasizing that everyone has unique talents, and if one sets their mind to something, they can achieve it.

women’s professional baseball league announces INAUGURAL teams

In an exciting step forward for women’s sports and women’s baseball specifically, the Women’s Professional Baseball League (WPBL) has announced the first four franchise cities ahead of its league debut:

  • Boston, MA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • New York City, NY
  • San Francisco, CA

The league emphasized that these cities were chosen for their deep baseball history and passionate fan communities. The inaugural WPBL Draft is scheduled for November 2025, marking a new era for women’s baseball now complimenting the women’s sports leagues we’re seeing and loving in North America, like hockey, soccer, basketball, rugby, lacrosse, and more. You can follow all things WPBL here.

The stories of the week show girls in sport and physical activity that:

  • The PWHL’s franchise expansion and success with jersey sales prove there’s a hunger for women’s hockey in additional markets across Canada and the United States.
  • Dove’s campaign with AFC Toronto reminds us that girls deserve to be celebrated and spoken to about being strong, bold, resilient, etc.- not just about being pretty.
  • The WPBL launch signals that women’s sports outside the traditional “big three” are ready to thrive with the right support and visibility.
